Leanne Goldstein is a Canadian insurance and disability lawyer with over 20 years of experience. Her practice focus is on litigating long term disability benefits claims, critical illness, and life insurance claims. Leanne also represents clients who are dealing with disability related employment, Human Rights and workplace issues.
For more than two decades, Leanne has tirelessly and passionately advocated for individuals whose benefits have been wrongfully denied by insurance companies. Leanne has an extensive range of litigation experience before various courts and tribunals in Canada. She has litigated against every insurance company in Canada and many US based insurance companies.
Prior to 2002, Leanne practiced as an Attorney outside of Canada with a large international law firm. In Ontario, Leanne initially practiced personal injury litigation with one of the top ten personal injury law firms. She then devoted the next 16 years to representing individuals denied disability benefits at two leading long-term disability practices in Ontario.
Since 2019, Leanne has owned and operated a law firm dedicated to serving the needs of long-term disability, critical illness, and life insurance claimants while maintaining a trauma-informed approach to litigation.
Leanne is regularly asked to appear as a speaker or panelist for various professional organizations including the Long-Term Disability Section of the Ontario Trial Lawyers’ Association, EHN and Parkinson’s Canada.
Leanne has authored multiple published articles and a book chapter on Critical Illness. Leanne has served as a mentor for the Law Practice Program provided by the Toronto Metropolitan University, she mentors internationally trained lawyers, advocates for disability-related charitable causes and provides legal education and services pro bono to community legal clinics including, The 519.
Leanne believes strongly that injecting humanity into lawyer-client interactions does not detract from professionalism and that vigorous advocacy and empathy can co-exist. Leanne’s goal is to help her clients successfully navigate the litigation process while ensuring that their dignity, autonomy, and mental health is preserved.

Maria Garofalo

Maria graduated from York University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 2019, majoring in Human Rights and Equity Studies. She has comprehensive legal training with a Paralegal diploma from Humber College. She is currently working toward her Law Clerk diploma from Seneca College.
Maria has extensive experience working at one of the top ten Toronto personal injury firms representing plaintiffs in motor vehicle accident tort claims, accident benefits claims, personal injury and disability litigation.
Maria manages our clients’ files from beginning to end in all stages of litigation. She assists with intake, gathering information and documentation, speaking with clients, scheduling, drafting correspondence, and file management and organization. Clients can trust Maria to keep the details of their cases organized and on track to resolution.
The many clients that Maria has worked with over the years repeatedly comment on the extensive care that she takes with all aspects of their case, always accommodating their needs and considering their emotional well-being.
Maria’s exceptional organizational abilities have also equipped her to manage the many aspects of the firm’s day to day requirements as office manager.
Maria enjoys working in the area of disability law because it allows her to positively impact the lives of our clients and their families by assisting them through their case. She is highly professional and an extremely dedicated member of the LGL team.
In her spare time, Maria enjoys reading and spending time with her family and friends.

Samantha Mac

Samantha is a talented and highly intelligent social media and tech-savvy legal and office assistant.  She has a passion for the law and the connection between Chronic Disease and Policy.
Samantha assists the firm with social media, the administrative portion of the legal files and with all aspects of technology within the law firm.
Samantha’s calm demeanour and compassionate nature helps our clients feel supported and her extensive attention to detail ensures that all files are up to date with administrative tasks. Outside of work, Samantha enjoys playing piano for her school choir, participating in coding hackathons and business competitions and enjoys baking.
